Minnie was built by Honnor Marine in 2007. She is a well sorted example of the Cape Cutter, an excellent trailer-sailer designed by Dudley Dix and now for sale.
Minnie comes with everything you need for cruising, by trailer and by sea. In the past two years, she has had new headsails, four coats of Coppercoat to top up the original, new running and standing rigging and numerous practical and aesthetic enhancements. The 2019 Honda outboard is in excellent condition with low hours. A Waveline inflatable dinghy is included. There are two anchors, plenty of mooring lines and fenders, gas stove and crockery and cutlery for 4.
Minnie is currently de-commissioned for winter, on her trailer in Ipswich, Suffolk. A great opportunity to give her a thorough examination. The gear is stored nearby in the dry and will be bought to the boat for viewing.
The Cape Cutter has a large rig, fine bow sections, a full stern and 300kg of encapsulated lead ballast in addition to the 100kg centre plate. This gives her good performance in light and stronger winds. The design has earned a reputation for seaworthiness. At least 3, including Minnie, have circumnavigated Great Britain and many more regularly undertake ambitious coastal passages. And, of course, they are just as happy sailing in rivers and creeks.
The boats are full of practical features: four berths, a foredeck well for the anchor, a cockpit outboard well placing the propeller in line with the rudder, bilge ‘stubs’ for drying out and many more.
